Do you see a /usr/bin/g++ file? If so, you already have a C++ compiler. You likely don't need to install anything. If you're doing something simple, you can just run "g++ <file>". Running "man g++" will give you a list of options with descriptions. This is all from within a shell command line. If you're using one of the GUI's instead, I can't help. I'm old school and do everything from command lines within Unix-flavored OS'.

i don't use linux, i haven't used
since 1994, but as far as i remember
you could use rpm --install and install the rpm

but if you have the sources..

then could be something like gcc134SXX#.tar.gz
then

gunzip gcc134SXX#.tar.gz
tar -vxf gcc134SXX#.tar.gz

cd gcc (tab)

vi INSTALL
or vi README...

there will ask you probably for some libraries,,
if everything is fine then

./configure
then make
then make install

logout your shell
and login again
.
there you go...
